Water torture

On Sunday, Team Trek walked 20km from Ditchling Beacon to the finish line at Brighton Racecourse. Rich wanted us to race each other to the finish line... until we realised what a funny sight we would look trying to run when our legs could hardly walk any further!

We finally deciphered the correct trail for the end of Stage 9, with the help of the photos and instructions from other Trailwalker teams (thanks Sussex & Surrey Strollers!)

We forgot to take a camera this time, but anyway rain would have blighted the photos for most of the route. Some of the paths towards the end of stage 9 became very slippy (need walking poles for future...), and wading through arable fields left us with waterlogged shoes for the rest of the walk! At least if it rains on the day we will have had some experience of walking in wet conditions - tiring and slow!

Timings (not taking any rest breaks) were:
* Stage 9 (most of) = approx 10.3km ... 2h30m including a 15 min diversion to confirm we were on the correct path!
* Stage 10 = 4.0km ... 0h50m
* Stage 11 = 5.8km ... 1h10m
* Total approx 20.1km ... 4h30m
